Compost Kids Facilitator Training

  • The Civic Garden Center 2715 Reading Road Cincinnati, Ohio, 45206 United States (map)

We're seeking volunteer facilitators for our K-6 Compost Kids field trip (ages 5-12).

What will I be doing? Facilitators lead one of the field trip stations on composting, nature exploration, pollinators or herb gardening and planting seeds.

What's the time commitment? Field trips are 2.5 hours long, and facilitators are asked to arrive 30 minutes ahead of time to help set up. We will offer the field trip once a week on Tuesday mornings in September (8, 15, 22, and 29) and October (6, 13, 20, and 27). Schools typically book to arrive between 9 and 10am and finish up between 11:30am and 12:30pm.

Do I have to attend every date? An ideal volunteer would be available for multiple dates, but you do NOT need to help with all the field trips.

What else should I know? Background checks are required for volunteer facilitators. If you are interested in volunteering but can’t make the training, we encourage you to reach out and we will try to make accommodations!

This event (and any field studies you facilitate between July 31 and November 20) counts toward our 2026 Volunteer-A-Thon!

Want to join us? Make sure you’re registered as a CGC volunteer, then…
