Symphyotrichum laterifolorum
Calico Aster
Often dismissed as a weed, this native perennial is covered in pink and white flowers in fall that are highly attractive to pollinators.
It grows best in full sun to part shade and moist, well-drained soil but its weedy reputation is earned through its ability to pop up almost anywhere.
Reaches about 3 feet tall and wide but can be cut back in early summer to create a smaller, more manageable plant.
Drought tolerant.
