Senna hebecarpa
Wild Senna
This tall native perennial has broad pinnate leaves and bright yellow summer flowers.
Its long black seed pods remain through winter, adding an ornamental element.
Prefers full sun but can tolerate a wide variety of soil conditions. Too much moisture and richness may cause wild senna to flop over.
It is more common in pastures and meadows than it is in the garden.
Drought tolerant.
