Sambucus nigra
Elderberry
Elderberry grows about 12 ft tall and will spread to form thickets.
It prefers wetter soil and full to part sun.
It benefits from late winter pruning to remove old or weakened stems.
Flowers and berries are edible and used for a variety of medicinal and culinary purposes.
Horticulturist’s Notes: Elderberries won’t produce fruit without another individual nearby, so make sure to plant two.
