Elderberry

  • Elderberry grows about 12 ft tall and will spread to form thickets.

  • It prefers wetter soil and full to part sun.

  • It benefits from late winter pruning to remove old or weakened stems.

  • Flowers and berries are edible and used for a variety of medicinal and culinary purposes.  

  • Horticulturist’s Notes: Elderberries won’t produce fruit without another individual nearby, so make sure to plant two.
