  • Winged sumac, like many other sumacs, will quickly spread through suckers to form a colony of small trees.

  • It grows best in full sun and needs richer soil than other sumacs, although it is drought tolerant.

  • It has red fall color and produces clusters of velvety red berries that can be used as a seasoning, tea or lemonade.
