Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Monlo’
Diablo Ninebark
A vase-shaped shrub that grows 8 feet high and about half as wide.
Grows well in full to part sun and a variety of soil conditions.
White spring flowers attract a wide variety of pollinators.
Exfoliating bark provides winter interest in the garden.
This cultivar has purple foliage and, while beautiful, is not as beneficial to herbivorous wildlife because of the chemicals in its leaves.
Horticulturist’s Notes: Prune oldest stems to the ground in late winter to rejuvenate shrub.
