Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Monlo’
Diablo Ninebark

  • A vase-shaped shrub that grows 8 feet high and about half as wide.

  • Grows well in full to part sun and a variety of soil conditions.

  • White spring flowers attract a wide variety of pollinators.

  • Exfoliating bark provides winter interest in the garden.

  • This cultivar has purple foliage and, while beautiful, is not as beneficial to herbivorous wildlife because of the chemicals in its leaves.

  • Horticulturist’s Notes: Prune oldest stems to the ground in late winter to rejuvenate shrub.
