What’s a Civic Gardener?

The word civic refers to duties or activities related to your local area. Derived from the Latin root civis, meaning “citizen,” it was first used in ancient Rome to describe an oak-leaf crown or garland given to someone who had saved the life of a fellow citizen. Gardeners, as we all know, are people who tend to and cultivate our natural world in various ways. So a Civic Gardener, in our minds, is someone who nurtures nature where they live, for both their own sake and the sake of the broader community. That’s our kind of people!
