  • Sometimes called tulip poplar, this tree is actually in the magnolia family.

  • Distinctive lobed leaves can be quite large, and among them can be found the cupped yellow and orange flowers that resemble its namesake.

  • Wild-grown specimens in Cincinnati easily reach 100 feet, but their quick growth often means weak wood.

  • Full sun and rich soils are best.
