As the CGC’s Program Associate, Jack fills a variety of roles across the CGC’s mission areas of urban agriculture, horticulture and conservation. On any given day, you could find him leading volunteer groups on the grounds of Hauck Botanic Garden, flipping scallion pancakes in a community garden or battling off the mosquitos while tending to native plants in the hoop house.
Jack has always been a student of nature, raised on the tenet that nature is our first and finest classroom. His urban gardening journey began in 2024 with an internship through Cincinnati State’s co-op program, and he eventually graduated with degrees in Sustainable and Landscape Horticulture. Jack sought the diversity of lived experiences from community college and found it in abundance at the CGC.
Jack is a lifelong Cincinnatian but feels equally at home in the north woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula or the lowlands of Emsland in Germany, where he spent a fifth year of high school as an exchange student. Jack specializes in thinking, looking, listening and getting distracted. He’s always ready to nerd out and values every interaction as a new perspective through which to appreciate the natural world.
