Hydrangea arborescens ‘Abetwo’
Incrediball Hydrangea
This popular cultivar of the native smooth hydrangea is an improved version of the Annabelle variety.
It has massive flower clusters that fade from green to bright white in early summer and last all the way until fall, then remain as attractive dried flower heads through winter.
Its thick, straight stems grow about 3 feet tall and spread to reach 5 feet wide.
It prefers part shade and moist, well-drained soil.
Drought will cause this plant to dramatically wilt, although it can perk back up after watering.
Horticulturist’s Notes: Prune to the ground in late winter to encourage vigorous stems growth and large flowers.
