Welcome to the Green Learning Station

The Civic Garden Center’s Green Learning Station was once a SOHIO gas station and now is a unique LEED Platinum certified environmental education center! The Green Learning Station is a place where students of all ages can learn about sustainable design, energy efficiency, cutting edge composting and vital stormwater management.

The Green Learning Station opened in 2011 as a demonstration showpiece for the Cincinnati region to understand how green technologies perform over time. With the addition of two electric vehicle charging stations in 2022, the space is once again a spot to refuel your ride. While you’re charging, be sure to notice the array of pervious pavers, visit our green roof, take a peek at our outdoor compost systems, admire the plants in our rain garden and snap a selfie with our mural, painted in 2024 by the amazing artists at Studio Lyric. Indoors, you can view our living green wall, propagation room and combined sewer overflow model and get up close with our bokashi and vermicompost systems.

As our city grows we are ready to take on the challenge of testing new ideas and building the creativity of the next generation as they combat our climate crisis. We thank our partners at MSD, SonLight Power, SVP, HGC, our board, Studio Lyric and everyone else who has made this space possible.

We offer FREE monthly tours of the Green Learning Station—no reservation needed! See our calendar for dates. If you would like to book a tour for a large group please email Mary Dudley, Director of Education: mdudley@civicgardencenter.org
