Come out and play: Learn basic block printing and create your own art!
In the past, block (or relief) printing was done by carving a design into wood, inking it, and then printing the design onto paper or fabric. Today we can use linoleum to achieve the same end!
In this hands-on workshop, Amy Gable of Yam Happy will guide you through designing your own stamp, transferring it to linoleum, and carving your own block. You’ll have time to use your stamp to print on paper, stickers, and a zippered pouch to take home along with your stamp.
All materials will be provided. In the interest of sustainability, some will be sourced from the Cincinnati Recycle & Reuse Hub!
There is no age restriction for this class; however, we will be using sharp carving tools. Participants should have sufficient hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to tie shoes or cut with scissors. Children must be registered separately and accompanied by an adult at all times.
Classes hosted by Yam Happy are intended to help us enjoy some happy moments together, so while you may end up finishing a projrect during the class, we hope you’ll prioritize being present with the group and slow down enough to fully experience the creation process.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Amy Gable of Yam Happy explores creating and utilizing multiple mediums.
