Erianthus alopecuroides
Silver Plume Grass
This native grass has highly ornamental flowers in late summer.
It can grow very tall and will form dense clumps.
Prefers full sun and dry soil. Shade or too much moisture and richness will cause this grass to grow skinny and flop over.
It is common in prairies and meadows but less popular in the garden.
Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
