Erianthus alopecuroides
Silver Plume Grass

  • This native grass has highly ornamental flowers in late summer.

  • It can grow very tall and will form dense clumps.

  • Prefers full sun and dry soil. Shade or too much moisture and richness will cause this grass to grow skinny and flop over.

  • It is common in prairies and meadows but less popular in the garden.

  • Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
