Community Garden Development Training

Interested in starting a community garden? Attending the Civic Garden Center's Community Garden Development Training (CGDT) is the first step!

The Details

CGDT runs for 11 sessions from January through April and is free to anyone interested. Topics the training covers include civic engagement, organic vegetable gardening, garden design and construction techniques, and the series ends with a practicum. See the 2024 syllabus here.

Participants who attend 9 out of 11 classes and perform 8 hours of volunteer service in a CGC program area will receive a certificate, and coordinators who meet certificate, site and program requirements are eligible to join the Community Garden Network.

How to Register

The 2024 CGDT training is full. Keep an eye out later in the year…we’ll run it again in early 2025!

CGDT is sponsored in part by the Meshewa Farm Foundation.
