Chelone lyonii ‘Hot Lips’
Pink Turtlehead
This native perennial grows best in part shade and moist, rich soil.
It will spread slowly through rhizomes to form dense clumps.
The Hot Lips cultivar has deep pink flowers in late summer and dark green foliage.
Flowers are similar in shape to snapdragons and look like little turtle mouths.
Deer resistant.
Horticulturist’s Notes: Cut back turtlehead in late spring by one third to one half to promote bushier stems and prevent flopping.
