Chelone lyonii ‘Hot Lips’
Pink Turtlehead

  • This native perennial grows best in part shade and moist, rich soil.

  • It will spread slowly through rhizomes to form dense clumps.

  • The Hot Lips cultivar has deep pink flowers in late summer and dark green foliage.

  • Flowers are similar in shape to snapdragons and look like little turtle mouths.

  • Deer resistant.

  • Horticulturist’s Notes: Cut back turtlehead in late spring by one third to one half to promote bushier stems and prevent flopping.
