An upright native woodland grass that does well in sun or shade and moist, well-drained soil.
Averages around 3 feet tall.
Self-seeds or spreads through rhizomes to form thick colonies and can spread aggressively under optimal conditions
Bamboo-like foliage is accompanied by highly ornamental dangling seedheads that resemble clusters of oats.
Seeds persist through winter. Seed heads are highly ornamental and resemble flattened clusters of oats, turning from silvery green to golden brown.
Prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soil but can tolerate a wide range of conditions.
Drought tolerant, deer resistant and adapted to tough urban conditions.
