Asclepias syriaca
Common Milkweed
Common milkweed is often considered too aggressive for small home gardens.
It can grow up to 5 feet tall and prefers full sun and well-drained soil.
It produces pink or white flowers in summer, followed by long green seed pods that crack open in fall to release silky fluff.
Milkweed is the only food source for monarch caterpillars.
Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
