Asclepias speciosa
Showy Milkweed

  • Similar to common milkweed, but less aggressive, this native perennial grows about 3 feet tall and produces fragrant pink flowers in summer.

  • These blooms are followed by long green seed pods that crack open in fall to release silky fluff.

  • Prefers full sun and dry soil.

  • Milkweed is the only food source for monarch caterpillars.

  • Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
