Join us for a morning of working out in our West End Community Garden! Make sure to bring water and dress for the weather. Bring gloves & your own tools if you have some, but we have plenty of extras if not!
These classes are held in one of our HUB Community Gardens, designed to help you get the most from your garden and the seasonal produce it yields. They are free and open to anyone interested. Hike on the Grounds
Tuesday, October 1st, 6-7:30pm
Instructor: Greg Torres, CGC Horticulturist
Cost: $15 (free for volunteers)
Want to learn more about the history of “Sooty Acres,” and the flora and fauna that continue to thrive here? Join CGC horticulturist, Greg Torres, on an educational hike through the Hauck Botanic Gardens.

Proper Pruning
Tuesday, October 15th, 6-8pm
Instructor: Dave Gressley, Director of Horticulture, Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum
Cost: $15 (free for CGC volunteers)
Proper pruning of trees; young and older along with shrubs and fruiting trees. Planning with proper siting of plants to avoid unnecessary pruning due to lack of space or dieback will also be presented.
Join us for our next YP Walk & Talk! Greg Torres, CGC’s horticulturist, will lead us on a walk through the woods to learn about the history of the woods and the current health of the plants and animals living there. Located in Northside, Buttercup Valley is an important urban ecosystem that demonstrates what a healthy forest can look like with a little love and care.
Coffee and Climate Change
Saturday, October 26th, 10am-12pm
Instructor: Braydon Booher, Educator for Deeper Roots Coffee
Cost: $30
This class covers how coffee grows, what makes great coffee, what its main issues are in the field are, and how climate change can potentially affect it. There is a lot of doomsday talk when it comes to coffee and climate change and this class is meant to dissect that information and prepare for the future of coffee. It’s not going anywhere.
