Below are all of our upcoming classes, events, and volunteer opportunities.
The weather is warming up. It’s time to start thinking about getting those garden beds ready for either your seeds or your starter plants. As with all things gardening, there is a right way to approach it and definitely some things to avoid. Join us to learn about one of your first outside vegetable garden chores of the season, garden bed preparation.
Do you want to start a compost pile but have no idea how to begin? This class is an excellent introduction to why we compost, different styles of composting, and how to get started at home. Whether you are concerned about the environmental impact of food waste or are interested in having the extra nutrients to add to your garden, this class will help you get on the right track!
Join CGC horticultural staff in working on our grounds, Hauck Botanic Gardens. Volunteers will help with garden maintenance including planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, seed collecting and more! Please bring a reusable water bottle and a mask, pants and long sleeves are encouraged. All other tools and materials will be provided.
Join us in restoring Walnut Woods, directly adjacent to Walnut Hills HS. This workday will focus on removing invasive species and improving the trail system. We hope to see you there!
Join one of the co-founders of Ohio’s Native Plant Month, Nancy Linz, to discuss the history of the legislation and why it is so important for Ohio. She will discuss some of the initiatives going on across the state related to native plants this year and how you can get involved. Learn about where to buy native plants in Ohio and some of the best plants to support pollinators. She will also offer a sneak peek at some of the new native plant initiatives that are being developed!
