Peas & Peanuts!

Weather: 84°F Cloudy with Showers (Low 73°F)

Last week our summer campers harvested a healthy pea crop and we left a few pea pods to dry so we can harvest seeds for fall planting. Students have been harvesting kale, carrots, swiss chard, sorrel, fennel and mint for their salads. We are still waiting for a seed harvest on the arugula and radishes. The hot, dry weather has slowed early growth but we have flowers on the tomatoes and pumpkin plants so fingers crossed we will have a true fruit to harvest soon!

On June 16th our School Garden Development Training participants built a small cedar bed for us to try our hand a growing peanuts! More to come on that project as the season continues. If you have any experience with growing peanuts please be sure to leave a comment below.
