comments

"The community has gained a wonderful refuge from the streets in our Pendleton Community Children’s Garden. It provides a safe environment for children to experience the wonders of nature, and participate in planting, maintaining and harvesting a garden. The Civic Garden Center created this little Eden from a lot that was previously overgrown and littered. It is a delight to see the imaginative raised bed gardens, “outdoor rooms”, profusion of blooms, butterflies, birdbaths, picnic tables, and best of all, lively children enjoying it all."

Become a Mentor

Help urban children experience the beauty and benefit of nature in their own backyard by becoming a mentor for the Civic Garden Center's Youth Education program known as Summer Sprouts.  Every summer CGC staff and volunteer provide Summer Sprout programming in four children's gardens located in Over-the-Rhine, Pendleton, Walnut Hills, East End and Northside. Educate children in the garden on how to plant, grow and harvest vegetables, dig for worms, compost, and much more.  No gardening experience necessary, just a willingness to work with kids, have fun and get dirty!  If your agency would like to take part in the Summer Sprouts program, give us a call!
