Clifton Community Garden
History
This garden is on a unique location, the corner of Clifton Avenue and Dixmyth Road, which is visible to thousands of motorists on a daily basis. The goal of the garden is to provide a place in Clifton for people to grow their own food and build awareness about local food within the community. The Clifton Community Garden has fourteen raised beds, ornamental plantings and edible landscaping that includes a hazelnut hedgerow. The Hazelnuts were provided by the CGC Urban Orchard Project funded in part by a Safe & Clean Grant from Keep Cincinnati Beautiful. The garden also has a rainwater catchment system that utilizes two 225 gallon totes donated by the Coca-Cola Enterprises Production Center. The garden, cultivated by Clifton residents, is on property owned by Good Samaritan Hospital who is a supportive partner in the project. The garden coordinators John Hemmerle and Will Lambeth are graduates of the 2008-09 CGDT Program.
