Field Study Facilitator Training

  • The Civic Garden Center (Green Learning Station) 2715 Reading Road Cincinnati, OH, 45206 United States (map)

We're seeking volunteer facilitators for our grades 7-12 Green Teens Field Studies program.

What will I be doing? Facilitators will lead groups of students through a series of inquiry-based, hands-on activities that build on previous knowledge and immerse learners in the fascinating world of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Throughout the field study, facilitators guide students to observe the intentional preservation of natural cycles, work together to identify and discuss problems, learn progressive actions around the globe that build sustainable futures for generations to come and determine personal actions they can take to contribute to a healthy planet.

What's the time commitment? Field trips are 2.5 hours long, and facilitators are asked to arrive 30 minutes ahead of time to help set up. We will offer the field trip once a week on Thursday mornings in April (4, 18, 25) and May (9,16,23) as well as one Friday in April (12). Schools typically book to arrive at 9:30am and finish up at 12pm.

Do I have to attend every date? An ideal volunteer would be available for multiple dates, but you are not required to help with all the field studies.

What else should I know? Background checks are required for volunteer facilitators. If you are interested in volunteering but can’t make the training, we encourage you to reach out and we will try to make accommodations!

Still have questions? Please reach out to Mary Dudley, CGC Ecology Education Manager: mdudley@civicgardencenter.org
