Container Gardening for Vegetables and Herbs

  • The Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati 2715 Reading Road Cincinnati, OH, 45206 United States (map)

Growing vegetables and herbs in containers is a great option if you don’t have much outdoor space, a shady yard but a sunny deck or maybe need to keep plants in a space that's more protected from critters. Whatever your reason, this class will teach you how to set your edible container garden up for success by choosing the right containers, soil and plant varieties and then maintaining it through the growing season. You'll leave with a simple 4-gallon container and a hanging basket container to fill at home, plus a great list of tried-and-true vegetables and herbs to start with!

Meet the Presenter: Shannon Carr is a Cincinnati native. She is a gardening extraordinaire and a creative experimental cook. She enjoys growing weird things and making even weirder dishes. Shannon founded Isaiah 55, Inc. using her two hobbies gardening and cooking over 20 years ago. She takes her artistic abilities and her love of upcycling and designs unique gardening spaces. You can find her either in one of her gardens or her new restaurant Garden of Eat’n located in East Price Hill providing free meals to those who need it the most.

Cost: $20 / $15 for active CGC volunteers
